Description
The battery technology taking rechargeable transportation and hobbyists by storm isnow available for direct shipping from the USA Lithium metal hydride (LiMH) and Lithium Polymer (LiPo) cells can be dangerous when overcharged or damaged. But not all lithium technology is the same. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cells have an advanced construction that is very safe – even when severely abused. Drive nails thru them when completely charged. Hit them with a hammer. Severely overcharge them. Damage will shorten (or end) their life, but the cells won’t catch fire and often won’t leak. This auction is for 12 deep-cycle C-LiFePO4 40138 cells - enough to build a 36V 10Ah pack. Each cell is 1.6 inches in diameter and 5.4 inches long. Overall length with terminal bolts is 6.75 inches. Each weighs just under 13 ounces. No soldering or tab welding is required - each cell is terminated with a 6mm bolt and is supplied with interconnect straps and hardware. You can also use ring terminals and appropriate wire. These cells can be charged quickly with a standard sealed lead acid battery charger or constant voltage power supply. They'll reach 80% charge in an hour or less. No cell balancing is required for normal discharge use. Medium discharge testing shows that a pack doesn't need to be balanced until about 100 cycles. We use individual cell chargers in the shop, so balancing is automagic. For longest life (over 3000 charges and/or 10 years), charge to 3.65 volts and set your minimum voltage at 2.1 volts. These have a 1.5C (15A) normal discharge rate, and a max rate of 10C (100A). The rapid charge and discharge rate, light weight, long life, and safety are making LiFePO4 cells the first choice for many applications. They are much lighter - and safer - than lead acid - no worries if the kid or dog finds the pack. These cells are being used in eBikes, scooters and in plug-in hybrid cars. Chargers, battery management boards, low voltage boards, and balancers are available. We’ll provide info on request to purchasers. We’ll also provide capacity, discharge, and MSDS data for your cells on request. Other quantities are available.
